Dissolution of the non-profit organization, but nothing really changes.

Dear friends,

This little note to give you the latest news about Photographia.

As you know, I can not continue to manage it and we were looking for someone to take over. Well, it’s almost done. We still have to complete a few small steps.

Isabel, Luc and Geneviève submitted their resignations on 11th April.

Photographia asbl is voluntarily dissolved. All activities and assets are taken over by Photoviews asbl under the chairmanship of Michel Draguet.

The purpose of the Photographia section is to preserve and promote our photographic heritage.

Photoviews must meet the following conditions:

  1. All activities currently organized under the name Photographia ASBL will be taken by Photoviews asbl under the name Photographia.
  2. Occaphot ‘, the Brussels fair, retains the name of Occaphot’ and is organized by Photographia as part of Photoviews. Occaphot’ will, according to tradition, be organized on the first Sunday of December in one of the municipalities of the city of Brussels. A change of date is only possible in case of absolute necessity and only after studying the calendar of the European fairs closely.
  3. Photographia can organize any other photographic event that it considers useful (other fairs, meetings, demonstrations, exhibitions, workshops, etc.)
  4. Affiliated members can choose to support only the Photographia or Photoviews sections or to support both sections at the same time.
  5. The privacy of the Photographia address book will be respected, no data or information about its members or participants can be distributed, sold or exchanged in any way.

All financial and material resources (bank account, exhibition material, photo material as a result of donations, address book, website and accounts on social networks, suppliers of accounts, archives, etc.) will be made available to Photoviews and / or transferred as quickly as possible to Photoviews.

In short, absolutely nothing changes for you, it is just another person responsible and we lose the 4 letters at the end of our name.
I will guide Michel in his organization of Occaphot’ 2018 at least.

Thank you for your loyalty.

Isabel

Farewell Nicole

It is with great sadness that we hear that Nicole Housiaux has passed away.

Nicole gave so much to the world of Belgian photography by founding Photo Puce, a photo fair that has become legendary. The project then evolved into the non-profit organization Photographia, responsible for the organization of the Brussels photo fair under the name of Occaphot’ which kept its participants from the first hour.

Not a single event goes by, whether it’s organised by us or not, where I don’t listen to someone talk to me about the grand old days of Photo Puce.

The nostalgia of the Occaphot ‘City 2 period is also palpable.

Nicole retired from her organisation at 84 but has continued to be present.

A ceremony will be held at the Court-St-Etienne funeral home on Tuesday, March 6th at 1:30 pm.

Address: 1, Drève Goblet d’Alviella, 1490 Court-Saint-Etienne

“Nicole, the trust you gave me in handing me “your baby” touched me more than you can know.

You will be missed

With much love,

Isabel, Luc and Genevieve. “

Organisation looking for new management.

Dear friends,

For personal reasons I can not continue to manage Photographia. Our organisation is looking for a new team to take it over to avoid complete dissolution.

With my departure the association will also lose its treasurer and his secretary. These roles will need be filled too. Occaphot ‘is almost 30 years old, it would be a shame to shut it down for good so I hope to find someone passionate and motivated to continue to bring this organisation towards the future we have imagined for it. The complete renewal of the team is an advantage because it will allow you to bring your signature to it without being hindered by well anchored pre-existing ideas.

To fill the legal minimum structure we need:

  • a chairperson
  • a treasurer
  • a secretary

Languages needed:

  • French
  • Dutch
  • English is helpful
  • German is a plus.

Our association has:

  • Minimum funds for basic operations
  • Registered paying members
  • Projects planned and partly started
  • A site in working order
  • A Facebook page with a growing following
  • Its own phone number
  • A kit constituted of all the necessary for organising fairs such as Occaphot’
  • 30 years of archives are sorted and filed.
  • Exhibitors are regulars who rent a stall every time, so the address book is reliable
  • It has planned events for which dates and places are in place
  • The association is in fiscal and legal order and has made a request for subsidies for the next 4 years. We expect response mid-January but if the amount requested is granted, the association can pay rent and a full-time employee guaranteed for 4 years.

For any information please contact us via the contact form, by email at info@photographia-asbl.com, by phone 0471 119 550 between 9 am and 5 pm.

Without serious applications by March 10th 2018, we will begin the process of dissolution of the association. If this were to be the choice, the members would be fully reimbursed for their contributions paid since 2017.

Besides her work you will discover:

(no translation available, sorry.)

 Yousra Daly:

Photographie argentique, tirage jet d’encre, ajouts de feuille d’or.”
